T-Mobile USA gives a glimpse of the Galaxy S6

The best look at Samsung's next flagship device comes from a surprising source, T-Mobile USA. While we are still about a week away from expected reveal date of March 1st, it certainly expected that Samsung would start building the hype the the Galaxy S6.

In the image posted by T-Mobile you can clearly see the edge curved display that we first saw in the Galaxy Note Edge. We will know for sure on March 1st, but most believe that the S6 will not only have one but two curved edges and it remains to be seen how software will take advantage of the increased real estate.

Samsung officially announces the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Tab S 10.5 and are coming to Canada June 27th

While Android still has many strides to make in the tablet market, Samsung marches on with two new offerings. The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Galaxy Tab S 10.5 represent a renewed commitment to their belief that Super AMOLED is the best display technology available.

The 8.4 inch form factor isn't necessarily Samsung's first shot at this form factor as we saw the TabPRO 8.4 earlier this year. The biggest difference between the two is obviously the switch from an LCD display to a Super AMOLED display. The other big differences include a back reminiscent of the Galaxy S5 and new "Simple Clickers" that allow specially designed cases to be attached to the tablet.

The 10.5 inch form factor is a tweak on the usual 10.1 inch form factor we've seen from Samsung. Like the Tab S 8.4 is sports a super crisp 2560x1600 display

Specs for both tablets include a 8.4/10.5 inch 2560x1600 Super AMOLED display, Exynos 5 Octa at 1.9GHz + 1.3GHz or Snapdragon 800 2.3GHz Quad Core, 8MP w/ LED Flash + 2.1MP Full HD, 3GB (RAM), 16/32GB internal storage expandable via microSD by up to 128GB.

Both tablets run Android 4.4 KitKat. The 8.4 has a 4900mAh battery while the 10.5 has a 7900mAh battery. They will also come with a number of accessories including specialized cases that attach via the Simple Clickers on the device bodies. There is also a Bluetooth keyboard specially designed for the Tab S 10.5.

According to MobileSyrup, they will be available in Canada starting June 27th.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 getting Android 4.4 KitKat update today

What a fantastic way to start a Monday, if you're a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 owner and have been looking forward to an update to the latest version of Android, today is your day. Users on various Canadian carriers are reporting that they have been receiving their OTA update to KitKat this morning. This comes with a news of the Galaxy S4 getting the update just last week.

We're glad to see yet another big name flagship be brought up to date, if you have a Note 3 let us know how the update goes.

Rogers Samsung Galaxy S4 to receive Android 4.4 KitKat tomorrow

While it might not be the first to an upgrade to Android 4.4, the Samsung Galaxy S4 gaining Android 4.4 KitKat will certainly be a significant contributor to increasing the number of Android users on the latest OS. Tomorrow Rogers' version will, according to the Rogers OS upgrade page, getting an upgrade to KitKat. Rogers' OS upgrade page has been pretty spot on in the past so we expect the upgrade to roll out as promised.

While we can't confirm it, Samsung has traditionally been able to synchronously roll out the updates to their devices and we expect the S4 to get the same treatment. If you have an S4 keep an eye out for the update tomorrow and let us know how it goes.

[MWC 2014] Samsung unveils the Galaxy S5

Here is it, after months of rumors and speculations Samsung has finally unveiled the Galaxy S5. As expected Samsung has packed the S5 to the brim with the latest hardware including a 5.1 inch Full HD 1080o display, 2.5 GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 (one of the first phones with the Xperia Z2), Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB of RAM, 16/32GB of Internal storage expandable by up to 128GB via microSD card, Wifi 802.11 ac with MIMO (2x2), USB 3.0, IP67 Water and Dust Resistance, 16MP Camera with 4K recodring capabilities, Heart Rate Monitor, Figerprint Scanner Home Button, LTE Cat. 4 Capabilities (150/50mbps), 2800mAh battery and Android 4.4.2.

In terms of the looks, the Galaxy S5 looks very much like the S4 from the front but in the back you see a drastic change as Samsung forgoes the glassy hyperglaze of the S4 and like the Note 3 opts instead for a leather like plastic textured back that is surprisingly reminiscent of the original Nexus 7.

We've also gotten word from our friends at Samsung that the Galaxy S5 will be available in Canada (presumably in April like the rest of the world) from Bell, Eastlink, Fido, Koodo, MTS, Rogers, SaskTel, TELUS, Videotron, Virgin Mobile and WIND Mobile (noticeably absent is Mobilicity).

The Galaxy S5 will come in Black, White, Blue and Gold although we don't think all the colours will be available in Canada at launch. We also expect carrier specific exclusive to be announced later like with the S III and S4.

Check out the full press release and press images after the break.

Rogers Samsung Galaxy S4 and Note 3 to get Android 4.4 KitKat "Soon"

With HTC pushing out Android 4.4 KitKat to the HTC One, you'd expect Samsung to have a response for their co-flagships the Galaxy S4 and Note 3 and it looks like that is going to be the case as according to the Rogers OS upgrade page, they will be receiving Android 4.4 "Soon".

While it is a vague window we suspect that this should be sooner rather than later given the rollout of KitKat to S4s and Note 3s globally. While this news is directly related to Rogers we wouldn't be surprised if this will coincide with a Canada wide rollout of Android's latest version to all carriers that sell the S4 and Note 3.

Samsung to unveil the Samsung Galaxy S5 on Monday, February 24th 2014

We can't believe it, but it has almost been a year since the Samsung Galaxy S4 was announced. This can only mean that we are just around the corner to the official announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S5. Samsung took to Twitter to officially announce the Unpacked 5 Event which by our guesses will probably have something to do with the Galaxy S5.

With rumors of a 5.3 inch 1440p display and 3GB of RAM and top of the line specs the S5 will certainly garner a lot of the attention that will surround MWC. Mark you calendars for February 24th and Bookmark Samsung's YouTube page as the will be streaming the event live for those not making it to Barcelona for Mobile World Congress.

Leaked Android 4.4 Firmware for Samsung Galaxy S4 surfaces

Looks like the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be joining the Note 3 in the KitKat party soon as SamMobile has gotten their hands on a leaked Android 4.4.2 Test firmware. According to SamMobile, the official update is still about a month or so away, but in their time with the Test Build it seems to be decently stable.

Changes include the translucent KitKat style notification pane with white icons, camera shortcut on the lockscreen, improved benchmark scores and tweaks to the default keyboard.

Of course, given that the Canadian version is slightly different to the I9505 version that this leaked firmware was made for, it won't work on the Canadian version. So I'd advise against installing the ROM.

In any case, good news for S4 owners looking forward to Android 4.4 KitKat.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 getting Android 4.4 KitKat rollout in... Poland!

Samsung has been on a roll as of late by getting Android 4.3 rolled out on the Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S III and Galaxy S4. Now it looks like the Galaxy Note 3 is going to be the first to get Android 4.4 KitKat. While the roll out is limited to Poland for now, this does bode well for not only the Canadian but all Galaxy Note 3's getting an update to the latest version of Android in the very near future.

AnrodiPolice is reporting that so far many of the first noticeable changes are aesthetic, like the status bar closely mirroring stock Android's translucent and White style and the Camera shortcut on the lock screen.Benchmarks also seem to indicate a slight improvement in results despite the Note 3 being an already incredibly fast device.

Samsung Galaxy Gear review

Samsung hasn't shied away from exploring new product segments. They basically created the "phablet" segment of the smartphone market and are now taking on "wearable tech". The Galaxy Gear is Samsung's first foray into wearable tech and while they might not have been the first to put out a smartwatch, it certainly is one of the most high profile launches we've seen. Today we see if Samsung has put together the right ingredients together for the first big "hit" in the smartwatch segment in our review of the Galaxy Gear.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Review

The third iteration of an established brand is usually the one that signifies its position as leader in its given product segment. We saw it happen with the world-beating Galaxy S III and we are seeing it again with Samsung's co-flagship Galaxy Note 3. We find out if a slightly larger screen, higher octane hardware and improved S Pen functionality are enough to keep Samsung at the top of the "phablet" heap in our review of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

Koodo to release the Galaxy Note ... II?

Koodo has been on a roll for the past few weeks, by getting the HTC Desire (601), the LG Made Nexus 5 and the Motorola Moto G. It looks like Koodo is about to add yet another device in the Galaxy Note II. While we loved the Galaxy Note II last year and is far from a slow device by today's standards, it's a bit odd to launch the device over a year after its initial availability.

That being said, it's still good to see more choice for consumers and we are glad to see Koodo add more choices. If your a Koodo customer interested in the Note II check out our full review here.

Samsung Galaxy S4 and S4 Mini from Bell to get upgrade to Android 4.3 November 23rd and brings compatibility with Galaxy Gear

Looks like Galaxy S4 and S4 mini owners are in for a pleasant surprise this Saturday as MobileSyrup has received information pertaining an upgrade to be pushed out to Bell customers. It looks like Android 4.3 will be pushed out to Bell Galaxy S4 and S4 mini this Saturday and brings with it compatibility with the Galaxy Gear which as of the writing of this article is only compatible with the Note 3 and Note 10.1 (2013).

While this info only concerns the Bell S4 and S4 Mini, we hope it means that a 4.3 update is also hitting other carrier versions shortly.

The Samsung Galaxy Note III, Galaxy Gear, Galaxy S4 Mini and Galaxy S III Mini are now available in Canada

The day is now upon us, Samsung's latest "phablet" is now available to Canadians from Rogers, Bell, TELUS, WIND, Mobilicity, Videotron, Sasktel and MTS. In addition, Samsung has made available the Galaxy Gear, the smartwatch designed to pair with the Galaxy Note 3 as well as older Samsung flagship devices, once they receive their update to Android 4.3.

Also launching tomorrow will be the diminutive Galaxy S III Mini and Galaxy S4 Mini. We are still a bit confused as to why someone would chose the Galaxy S III Mini over the S4 Mini especially given the rumors of both being free on contract.

Check out the specs after the break.

Samsung Galaxy S III, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note II will get Android 4.3 Jelly Bean upgrade this November

You might remember earlier this month we posted an article stating that the Galaxy S III, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note II would be in line for Android 4.3 to provide compatibility with the upcoming Galaxy Gear. It looks like the rollout will happen in November. According to MobileSyrup, Paul Brannan, Samsung Canada’s Vice President Enterprise Business Division, stated that the Galaxy S III, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note II would likely come in November.

This does fall in line with the fact that the Galaxy Gear would be released in early October.

Samsung's Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Gear, Galaxy S III Mini and Galaxy S4 Mini to hit Canadian shelves on October 4th

Looks like we have a street date for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Gear, Galaxy S III Mini and Galaxy S4 Mini. October 4th will mark the availability of these four devices. The Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014) will be made available shortly after in November.

We already know that the Galaxy Note 3 was headed to Rogers, Bell, TELUS, WIND, Mobilicity, Videotron, Sasktel and MTS and that the Galaxy S4 Mini is probably headed to Bell.

But what is most surprising is that Samsung will make the Galaxy S III Mini available almost a full year after its been available abroad. We aren't sure why the S III mini is being released as it will be competing or canalizing for sales in the lower tier where Samsung already dominates with phones like the Galaxy Ace line as well as the fact that the Galaxy S4 Mini is a far better mid-range device.

Also worth noting, the Galaxy Gear will be discounted $100, from the $299 pricetag, if bought with a Galaxy Note 3 between October 4th and October 6th.

Check out a refresher of the specs and the official press release after the break.
