According to Pocket Gamer, Sony will be launching their highly anticipated PlayStation Mobile service. 30 Games will be available at launch from various studios. Of course this will be only available to PlayStation Certified devices like the Xperia Ion and HTC One X but this is still fantastic news for game development on Android. Luckly, according to the report Canada will be one of the launch countries so October 3rd Canadians will get to see what Sony's PlayStation Mobile SDK brings to developers.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play to get 720p recording capabilities
Looks like one of our big gripes with the Xperia Play is getting rectified in an upcoming patch. According to Xperia Blog the Android 2.3.4 update will bring a host of improvements including 720p recording. We had the feeling that 5MP sensor was capable of 720p recording and the fact that the Arc had a custom camera application while the Play had stock the camera app was also another hint. No clue on if/when this update will hit the Rogers Xperia Play but we think chances are good. We will reach out to our friends at Rogers to see if we can get more info so keep it locked on Android Bugle. Video after the break.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play Review
Gaming on the go has been around just about as long as the cell phone itself. Naturally, people wanting to reduce the number of devices they carry around would most likely want their gaming device and phone in the same package. Recently, smartphones, especially slate/candybar smartphones with their massive screens, have been able to become pseudo-gaming devices. Unfortunately, hardcore gamers are usually turned off by the use of a touchscreen or a QWERTY keyboard for gaming and find the selection of mobile games rather underwhelming. A few years back, Nokia saw an opportunity to cater to the hardcore gamer demographic by creating the Nokia N-Gage; a gamepad wielding phone. Unfortunately, while the idea was a great one, the phone was a flop. Fast forward to 2011 and Sony Ericsson put out their crack at the gamer market with the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play.

Sony Ericsson shows off over 20 games specifically optimized for the Xperia Play (minecraft!)
Ever since the Xperia Play hit the hands of mobile tech reviewers (including yours truly) the general feeling was that while the Xperia Play is overall a good phone, although bulky and a bit to plastic, it was a bit weak in an area that should have been a strength; and that's gaming.

New Sony Ericsson Xperia Play Commercials
With the Xperia Play headed to Rogers and other carriers in the near future, Sony Ericsson has put out some commercials featuring Kristen Schaal from Flight of the Conchords. Appropriate choice to cast for these commercials as she is rather funny and puts the point across that this phone has got game.

Rogers to exclusively release the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc and Xperia Play this spring
Being the first to bring the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 to North American shores, it's no surprise that the Xperia Arc and Play will officially be headed to Rogers this spring. While being a pretty large time frame for the devices to launch this is still exciting news.
