We've gotten word from a Fido Nexus S owner that the Jelly Bean Android 4.1 update has been pushed to Fido owners in addition to Rogers owners. This isn't too much of a surprise as Rogers does own Fido, but sometimes OTA updates hit a snag from the parent company to its subsidiary. This is happily not the case for the Fido Nexus S. So if you're on Fido and have a Nexus S keep your eyes peeled for that update notification and let us know how your update goes. If you can't wait we have instructions to try to force the update after the break.

Rogers Nexus S getting Jelly Bean as of today
The main reason for many to get a Nexus device is to get updates first. The Nexus S might be a bit older than its newer Nexus stablemates the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7, but that doesn't mean it's going away any time soon. Google has announced today that the Nexus S on Rogers is part of the many Nexus S devices world wide that will start receiving Android 4.1 Jelly Bean via an Over The Air update.

Nexus S to also hit Fido and Koodo
The Samsung Google Nexus S looks like it's headed to even more carriers in Canada as MobileSyrup is reporting it will be available to purchase for use on Fido and Koodo. Of course, it's entirely plausible that some people would have gotten a Nexus S out right and brought them to be used on either Fido or Koodo as they run on the HSPA+ networks of their parent companies Rogers and TELUS.
