Rogers Sony Xperia S jetting update to Android 4.1.2, Xperia Ion could be next

Users of the Rogers Sony Xperia S have been reporting to MobileSyrup that the Sony Xperia S has been getting an over the air update to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. Great news for the once venerable flagship device, as the Xperia S is now a (surprisingly) full 3 generations behind the current flagship(s) the Xperia Z/ZL. That being said, this update should breathe new life into the device.

Also in Xperia related news, the Xperia Blog has reported that Xperia Ion users have also started receiving over the air update to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. No word on the Canadian version getting this update yet, we've reached out to our friends at Sony for more information and will let you know if we get any news.

Sony Xperia S Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade leaked on XDA

Looks like Jelly Bean upgrade news has decided to flow in a torrent today, as XDA Recognized Developer DooMLoRD has leaked several pictures of what looks like the Jelly Bean upgrade for the Sony Xperia S. Sony Xperia S getting Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

Tired of the constant Ice Cream Sandwich update news? Of course not! So today we have some more, Sony Mobile's official blog published an official post showing the Xperia S running Ice Cream Sandwich and says the roll out has already started. Sony unveils the first "Sony" branded Xperia NXT phones; Xperia S, Xperia U and Xperia P

Sony announced the Xperia S back at CES while the Xperia P and Xperia U were just announced at MWC. Sadly all three are packing Android 2.3 Gingerbread but are slated for an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich later this year (Q2 2012). The S is clearly aimed at the high end market, while the P is for midrange and U for slightly "lower end".
