LG Optimus 2X to get ICS after all?

Looks like deja vu, as LG HQ is backtracking on what was stated by the Canadian LG Twitter that the Optimus 2X would not receive Android Ice Cream Sandwich. According to LG's Korean Twitter account the Optimus 2X is slated for an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich and that it is now in testing phases. As mentioned on Phandroid, we can't see why LG would put so much effort into an update and not push it to as many Optimus 2X as possible, especially in Canada which traditionally is a hotbed for LG handsets.

LG Optimus 2X not getting Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

In a move the certainly will not please many people, LG Canada has announced via Twitter that the Optimus 2X will not be getting Ice Cream Sandwich. We have already seen our share of disappointment lately when it comes to Ice Cream Sandwich updates but this one is even more perplexing. The Optimus 2X was one of the worlds first Dual Core devices so we all know that it has the horsepower under the hood to run Ice Cream Sandwich. Reasons behind cancelling the update aren't known but we will be reaching out to LG to see if we can get an official statement.

Fido LG Optimus 2X upgraded to Gingerbread

According to a tip to MobileSyrup the LG Optimus 2X from Fido has gotten an update to Gingerbread 2.3. Now this isn't exactly the update some have been looking for but still it's good to see that LG hasn't given up on the worlds first Dual Core phone. That being said LG has committed to ICS on the Optimus 2X so I suspect to see that update eventually.

Fido launches the LG Optimus 2X

Fido has officially launched the LG Optimus 2X today. Much like the version offered by WIND and Vidéotron this is packing a Tegra 2 Processor, sports a 4 inch IPS display and is capable of 1080p recording. This version differs slightly as it sports LG's custom UI. Fido owners now have another choice when it comes to Android devices and this is a good one.

WIND to also launch the LG Optimus 2X

According to leaked pictures provided from MobileSyrup, the LG Optimus 2X looks like it will be headed to WIND (as well as Vidéotron).

Vidéotron to launch the HTC Glacier as well as the LG Optimus 2X

Vidéotron has been looking to turn the heat up on the big three in Québec, what better way that to snag to solid AWS capable Android devices and bring them into the fold. Already sporting a respectable Android linesup Vidéotron has really bolstered its lineup by adding both the HTC Glacier (to be launched on Mobilicity as the HTC Panache) and the LG Optimus 2X.
