Google Nexus 5 Review

The Nexus line of smartphones is quite unique in the world of tech. It has the feverish following of thousands of fans, not unlike its chief rival from Apple, and is awaited with bated breath every fall for the past few years. Some get it for the promise of swift updates to the latest versions of Android while others for the undeniable value it presents as an off-contract device. Surprisingly, for many reasons out of our control, this is Android Bugle's first look at a Nexus device but boy did we pick a great one to start off with. This is our full review of the Google Nexus 5.

Nexus 5 receiving update to dramatically improve camera performance

The Nexus 5 is without a doubt the best Nexus device to date. With some pretty cutting edge specs almost across the board it certainly is a marvel that it can be purchased for such an affordable $350. One swore point that seems to persist with Nexus device however is the camera. The Nexus 5 unfortunately also suffered from subpar camera performance. FOrtunately it looks like a new OTA update is going to remedy that as version 4.4.1 is being pushed out to Nexus 5s to drastically improve camera performance.

If you have a Nexus 5 and haven't been pleased with the camera performance, check for the update as it has started rolling out to users.

The LG made Nexus 5 has just started landing in the hands of users this week, but it's about to reach a whole lot more hands in Canada as several Canadian carriers have made the Nexus device available starting today.  Rogers, Bell, TELUS, Fido, Virgin, Koodo and Videotron have all officially launched the Nexus 5.

On the "Big 3", Virgin and Videotron, the Nexus 5 is $99 on 2-year contract, Fido is offering the Nexus 5 for $200 on 2-year deal and Koodo $350 on tab.

We will be getting our hands on a Nexus 5 in the very near future for a full review.

Google Nexus 5 headed to Videotron

The Nexus 5 news just keeps on rolling as Videotron has just announced that the will also be carrying the new Google Nexus flagship device. For now the phone is listed as "coming soon", and has only opened a pre-registration page. Just like WIND, the form only allows users to be notified when the phone is made available to the carrier and isn't a reservation page. We already know that the Nexus 5 will be headed to WIND, as well as Rogers, Bell and TELUS. The more carriers carrying the Nexus 5 should be good for the chances of the Nexus 5 getting more mainstream acceptance.

The Google Nexus 5 is finally here (and it's gone!)

After months and months of endless speculations, rumors, leaks, fake leaks, etc. we now have a conclusion to the torrents of leaks as the LG made Nexus 5 is finally official. With the ridiculous amount of leaks and rumors the official specs of the Nexus 5 are exactly on point with the specs running rampant on the rumor mills.

Specs are exactly as listed by the Wind Mobile Page.

Also if you're only reading this now, you're out of luck as the Nexus 5's literally flew off the shelves and was sold out just less than 30 mins after the page opened up.

More on Android 4.4 later.

This is the Nexus 5

After month of speculation, leaks, leaks and more leaks we have our most "semi-official" look at the yet to be announced Nexus 5. This time it's courtesy of Google's own Google Play store! A listing for the Nexus 5 went up momentarily with images and storage sizes. It looks like the baseline model will start at 16GB of storage and will be priced at $349 (USD). This then implies that the 32GB version will come in at a paltry $399 and will probably come with a slight $10-20 overcharge for us Canadians.

Rumored specs include; 5-inch Full HD display at 442 ppi, a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snadragon 800, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage (with the possibility of other capacities), 8MP, 2300mAh battery + wireless charging as well as LTE and NFC.

We eagerly awake for Google to officially unveil this beast.

Nexus 5 pictured in clearest photo yet

With about two weeks to go before the suspense is over, the Nexus 5 breaks cover yet again with the best shot we've seen so far.

Matching the other pics we've seen so far, the Nexus 5 is rumored to be a variation on LG's current flagship the LG G2.

We eagerly await the unveiling of the Nexus 5 as well as Android 4.4 and perhaps a new Nexus 10 (2013).
