The Rogers HTC One X – My story of disappointment

In my time writing for Android Bugle, I've tried to keep the tone of the articles as neutral as possible. Although sometimes, it's nice to step out and voice a strong opinion. In this case, the topic at hand is the HTC One X. This article was a few days in the works but has been retooled in the light of news that the One X's support would stop at Android 4.2 for non-Canadian users and worse at Android 4.1 for Canadian users. The fact that buyers of the Rogers/TELUS HTC One X are abandoned is simply unacceptable, especially for a company like HTC that is in financial turbulence.

Should Google acquire TI's OMAP CPU program?

The talks of Google flirting with total vertical integration has been discussed several times since their acquisition of Motorola Mobility. With Google dipping its toes in Fiber Optic networks in Kansas City and rumored talks with DISH Network to establish their own wireless network, it looks like Google is, at the very least, exploring the idea of total vertical integration.

This week, yet another potential piece of the puzzle has potentially made itself available. Texas Instruments has announced the restructuring of the company to move away from the ultra competitive smartphone SoC market to focus on the more "profitable" vehicle and home appliance market. This also means they could possibly part ways with their OMAP ARM CPU program.

HTC or ASUS should be the next Nexus phone manufacturer

With the end of the summer looming upon us and the start of fall just around the corner, rumors of the next Nexus device will start percolating through various tech media outlets. However, this isn't the reason for writing this editorial. What I do want to explore, is why I believe that either HTC or ASUS should be the manufacturer for Google's next Nexus phone.

Thursday morning, HTC officially announced a deal with Beats by Dr. Dre where HTC acquires 51% of the company for a cool $309 million. The future result of the partnership of both companies is still under wraps but here are a few scenarios that are distinct possibilities.
