HTC Desire HD's ICS upgrade has been cancelled

Looks like the hopes of seeing an upgrade of the Desire HD to ICS have been dashed. TELUS is reporting through their Device OS Upgrade schedule that the Desire HD's upgrade has been "cancelled due to poor device performance during testing". We are very sad to see the news and quite shocked as things looked up since they pushed the estimated ship date forward and that phones with similar (if not worse hardware) like the One V and Desire C already have Android 4.0 ICS.

We aren't sure what to make of it yet, as we have no details on which version of Sense was being ported or what the "test parameters were".  We suspect Sense 3.6 was supposed to be the version of choice but we can't help but imagine that it was too "heavy" for the aging Desire HD's hardware. What is most disheartening is that the Desire C a device with much lower specs has Android 4.0 and Sense 4.0 and even worse is that the Incredible S with essentially is a Desire HD in a smaller form factor, is already on Android 4.0 + Sense 3.6.

We will reach out to HTC to see if we can get anymore info.
